LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif and Mayor of Austin Steve Adler to establish Lahore and Austin as science cities.
Dr Umar, who is also founder Vice-Chancellor of Information Technology University (ITU), is on an official visit to the US. He held meetings with US officials, academia and Steve and discussed PITB’s flagship programmes E-rozgaar, Wifi Hotspots, E-Learn, Digital Inclusion and Smart Transport solution.
Under the MoU, he said it was agreed to cooperate in the initiatives like organising bi-lateral trade, economic development and exchange missions to each city. Promotion of capital exchange and investment and exchange opportunities between Austin universities and ITU will enable both sides to prepare students for the future, he added.
